U. S. Steel Returns as Presenting Sponsor of The Children’s Heart Foundation’s Pittsburgh Congenital Heart Walk

The nation’s leading walk series dedicated to congenital heart defect research continues to grow in impact and community support.

PITTSBURGH, PA, May 2026The Children’s Heart Foundation is honored to have U. S. Steel as the Presenting Sponsor of the Pittsburgh Congenital Heart Walk for the third year in a row.

The Congenital Heart Walk is the nation's largest walk series solely dedicated to raising funds for congenital heart defect research, bringing together Heart Warriors, families, medical professionals, and supporters united by one mission: to improve and extend the lives of those affected by CHDs.

Congenital heart defects are America’s most common birth defect, affecting nearly 40,000 babies each year; this equates to one baby every 15 minutes. While survival rates for babies born with CHDs have improved, many individuals face lifelong challenges, underscoring the urgent need for continued research and innovation.

“At U. S. Steel, we believe our business thrives when we are actively engaged and involved in the communities where we make steel. U. S. Steel’s contributions to community organizations and activities support a range of causes,” said Scott Buckiso, EVP and Chief Manufacturing Officer North American Flat Rolled. “The primary goals of our contributions: to positively impact the communities that U. S. Steel calls home, to enhance and improve quality of life in those communities, and to support projects and opportunities that advance safety, education and environmental stewardship.”

The Pittsburgh Congenital Heart Walk Presented by U. S. Steel will unite supporters to raise funds for research to improve survival, longevity, and quality of life for all CHD patients. Join us as at Stage AE on Sunday, June 28, 2026 for a day of fun activities, entertainment, research updates, and our family-friendly one mile walk.

This year’s walk is especially meaningful as The Children’s Heart Foundation celebrates its 30th Anniversary, marking three decades of driving life-changing research and progress in the fight against CHDs. Since 1996, The Children’s Heart Foundation has funded nearly $21 million of CHD research, which has helped spark breakthroughs that are improving survival rates and quality of life for Heart Warriors of all ages.

Participants are invited to register as walkers, team captains, or volunteers, or to support the cause through a donation. To get involved, visit: https://events.chfwalk.org/event/pittsburgh

Together, we are not just walking—we are fueling discovery, advancing care, and creating a future where every Heart Warrior has the chance to live a longer, healthier life.
