LOS ANGELES, CA — The Children’s Heart Foundation is honored to announce that Savy King, Professional Soccer Player with Angel City FC, will join the 2026 Los Angeles Congenital Heart Walk taking place Sunday, May 17 at Griffith Park.
Savy King’s participation in this year’s event carries special significance following her own personal experience with congenital heart disease. In 2025, King experienced an on-field collapse caused by an undiagnosed congenital heart defect that ultimately required open heart surgery at Cedars-Sinai. Her recovery journey has since inspired her advocacy efforts surrounding heart health, emergency preparedness, and the importance of immediate response during cardiac emergencies.
Following her recovery, King founded Savy King of Hearts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to CPR education, AED awareness, and heart health advocacy. As part of the Los Angeles Congenital Heart Walk, Savy King of Hearts will lead a Hands-Only CPR activation in partnership with the American Heart Association. Walk participants and families will have the opportunity to learn life-saving CPR skills and engage with educational heart health resources throughout the event.
“We are incredibly honored to welcome Savy to our heart community,” said Terry Morrow, President and CEO of The Children’s Heart Foundation. “Her willingness to share her story and use her platform to advocate for heart health aligns powerfully with our mission to create healthier futures for those impacted by congenital heart defects.”
The Los Angeles Congenital Heart Walk is part of the nation’s largest walk series dedicated solely to raising funds for congenital heart defect (CHD) research. Funds raised by the walk support The Children’s Heart Foundation’s mission to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects by funding the most promising research; a mission that has been going strong for 30 years.
CHDs are America’s most common birth defect, affecting nearly 40,000 babies each year in the United States — this equates to one baby every 15 minutes.
Community members are encouraged to register and attend the event to support CHD research, honor Heart Warriors and Heart Angels, and connect with others impacted by congenital heart defects.
