Sally Powers serves on the Board of Directors of The Children’s Heart Foundation. She helped found the Michigan Region and Detroit Congenital Heart Walk in 2010. She also serves on committees for the American Heart Association focused on pediatric heart health and the inclusion of lay reviewers in the scientific process. Sally received her B.A. in Journalism with a focus on sociocultural anthropology from the University of Iowa, and she worked as a Research Editor and writer for national and regional magazines. Today, Sally, her husband and three children live in Michigan where they operate their family-run businesses. Their oldest son was born with critical Aortic Stenosis and underwent three heart surgeries in the first four years of life. Sally is dedicated to increasing and enhancing CHD research funding for all patients impacted by congenital heart disease.
