Dr. Sara Pasquali

Dr. Pasquali is the Janette Ferrantino Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Michigan and has served as the Associate Chief Clinical Officer for C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital as well as the Service Chief for the Division of Pediatric Cardiology.

She is a member of the Medical Affairs Advisory Committee to the Medical School Dean.

She received her undergraduate degree from University of Michigan, and medical degree along with masters training in clinical research from Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Pasquali completed pediatric residency and cardiology fellowship training at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  She is a graduate of the Ansbacher and ELAM executive leadership programs.

Dr. Pasquali’s work has focused on optimizing pediatric and cardiac care and outcomes locally and across the country through clinical, research, quality, and policy efforts. She has authored >240 publications in this area with an H-index of 77, and her research has been continuously funded by the NIH throughout her career. She is the Co-PI for her center’s participation as a core site in the NHLBI-funded Pediatric Heart Network. Dr. Pasquali also co-founded Cardiac Networks United, which houses the largest collection of pediatric cardiac data worldwide, and fosters collaboration spanning more than two thirds of the nation’s congenital heart centers to support novel research and quality efforts. She also recently led an initiative that developed the first consensus guidelines for pediatric heart surgery in the United States.  She serves on the American Heart Association’s Young Hearts Council Leadership Committee, as a member of the Mussallem Congenital Heart Disease Alliance Taskforce, and is active in developing the next generation, recently launching a national early career exchange program.

Dr. Pasquali has received numerous awards and recognitions including the Outstanding Research Award in Pediatric Cardiology from the American Heart Association, Richard E. Clark Award from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and the William Rashkind Lectureship.
