Nicole Henderson
Nicole Henderson currently works for Greenwich Hospital which is part of the Yale hospital system. She is a cardiovascular and interventional radiology technologist. She started working in a pediatriac cath lab in Chicago at the University of Chicago and immediately fell in love with the patients, families, and her job. "People in the medical field will tell you, when you go into pediatrics, you will love it or hate because it can be just as heartbreaking as it is rewarding at times. Thankfully, I loved it." University of Chicago is on the south side of Chicago and she saw a need for a bigger support system for heart patients. Because of this, she built a hospital-based support group for the patients. It included everything from child life speaking to siblings, doctors explaining what different tests were, photo shoots for kids and their scars, time for parents to just talk to each other, nutrition and exercise for different defects, and more. She volunteered when she could for The Children's Heart Foundation and Mended Little Hearts in IL. When she moved out to CT, she saw that The Children's Heart Foundation New England group was getting set up and got involved.
