Marianne is an Instructional Designer working in Downtown Detroit. She's been an active volunteer in the community primarily focusing on efforts with Make A Wish Michigan. In April 2017 she had her first child, Olivia. Olivia was born with three continental heart defects: Atrial Septal Defect, Coarctation of the Aorta, and a Bicuspid Valve. In addition to her defects, she was also born with a Chromosomal Duplication and Hypothyroidism. She had her first heart surgery at four days old to repair two of the defects at Mott's Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor. After working so closely with children battling critical illnesses for years and then having a child of her own with a range of medical needs, she knew she wanted to provide more support specifically to The Children's Heart Foundation's community. She has a goal to write and illustrate a series of children's books on children with Congenital Heart Defects.
