Virtual Research Reception: Mark Rodefeld, MD
HOPE THAT LEADS TO BRIGHT FUTURES: The Fontan Blood Pump—A Stronger Option for Patients
On June 23 from 4-6 pm CT, we are honored to host Dr. Mark Rodefeld, thoracic surgeon within the Division of Pediatric Cardio-Thoracic Surgery and associate professor of surgery in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Indiana University in Indianapolis. Dr. Rodefeld will discuss his research on developing the Fontan Blood Pump, which would act as the missing ventricle in single ventricle hearts. This would provide an option for Fontan patients that would extend the life of Fontan repair and could eliminate the need for a heart transplant. Following his presentation, Dr. Rodefeld will lead an exclusive 30-minute Q&A session with attendees.
