Sally Powers has been a volunteer with The Children's Heart Foundation since 2010, when she founded the Michigan Region and Metro Detroit Congenital Heart Walk. Currently, Sally serves as National Board Secretary and is the Board Chair-elect. She is also a lay member with the American Heart Association, serving on the Children's Strategically Focused Research Network Oversight Advisory Committee and the Lay Stakeholder in Science and Research initiative.
Sally received her B.A. in Journalism from the University of Iowa and worked as the Research Editor for national and regional magazines across the U.S. She currently lives in Clarkston, MI with her husband and their three children, where they own and operate small businesses. Their first child was born with critical Aortic Stenosis and underwent three heart surgeries. Sally is dedicated to increasing and enhancing research funding for congenital heart disease.
