Dr. Dixon and Dr. Ungerleider have proposed a study to evaluate the continuous cardiopulmonary bypass using the circuit miniaturization. The proposal will examine the effects of altering controllable parameters on continuous flow cardiopulmonary bypass including the effects of temperature, flow and prime constitution (asanguineous vs. blood) in order to elucidate the optimal management strategy for neonates requiring open heart surgery.
